A Medical Student Kills Himself For Orkut Lover !!!

AGARTALA: A love-struck medical student, Rupak Nath, committed suicide in Agartala as he felt his Orkut friend Rima (name changed) had ditched him. The fourth year medical student of Agartala Government Medical College had never met the Kolkata girl. But apparently, he had fallen madly in love with her after they came to know each other through the social network site Orkut.

Rima studies in a south Indian college though her father, a doctor, works in Agartala.

Police said Rupak's friends were alerted by Rima when she found he was not responding her calls since morning. The students rushed to his hostel room and forced open the locked door to discover his body hanging from the ceiling fan.

"Rima's name was written by blood in the walls of the room. Before committing suicide Rupak inflicted cuts on himself to write her name in blood", said an AGMC student.

"We have also found in his Orkut scrapbook that he was indeed an agonized soul. In the scrapbook he complained that Rima did not want to 'see his face'. Then he kept on repeating 'unlucky Rupak, hopeless Rupak'. His last orkut message was addressed to the girl's father," said the student.

"It is apparently a case of suicide but this can be officially confirmed only after post mortem", said a police officer. Rupak's father Ratanlal Nath, a resident of Manubazaar in South Tripura, is Deputy Inspector of schools.

Dr Ashok Sinha, an eminent physician of Tripura, said, "It is apparent that the boy was suffering from depression and major complication of depression is suicidal tendency. Any small provocation which would not have led to a suicide in a normal individual can drive a patient of depression to such a tragic end."

"In the internet these young boys and girls live in a virtual world and gradually loose communication with reality. The loss of touch with the reality in this particular case aggravated Rupak's depression. But main cause of the suicide is apparently depression", said Dr Sinha.

One of his friends corroborated the doctor's views.

"Rupak was a psychotic patient. He had attempted suicide earlier also. Only recently we noticed some 'hesitation marks'- the tell tale marks of attempts to cut one's hands", he said.

"In fact, Rupak had downloaded a picture of hangman's rope and put his face inside it. Then he made the picture as his Laptop's background".

Ironically, Rupak had not taken the girl's profile statement which is loud and clear: "Strength is Life and Weakness is Death."
