The National Eligibility Test (NET) is going to be held on December 26. The UGC (University Grants Commission) recently announced the exam date. The NET is conducted on national level for selecting candidates for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) and eligibility for lectureship in India.
Today, October 25, 2010 is the last date of online registration for the UGC NET. The interested candidates should register themselves at the earliest to avoid last minute rush.

According to the information shared by UGC, a few months ago, no negative marking is going to be there in Paper-I and Paper-II from this year onwards.
N.B. The official website of University Grant Commission’s (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) may not responding, leading to major difficulties for the candidates who are trying to get registered online for UGC NET Dec 2010 examination.

The Online Application for NET/JRF makes it easy for students, seeking to participate in the test. The last date of filling-up the online application form is October 25, 2010.
The last date for receiving the print out of online application form, attendance slip and admission card at the respective test centres (with fee receipt & category certificate(s) is November 11, 2010.
The UGC has mentioned all the steps involved in online regitration for JRF and NET. Here are the steps to registration for NET:
1. Before you move on with online registration, you are advised to download and read the notification of NET at www.ugcnetonline.in/notification.php
2. Thereafter candidates need to scan their passport size photograph in JPEG format. (less than 300kb wight)
3. At the time of uploading the photograph, please re-check that you are uploading the right size photograph.
4. You need to download the Bank Challan at http://www.ugcnetonline.in/bank_challan.pdf and print it and deposit the required (application fee is different for various categories of candidates) application fee at nearest branch of State Bank of India. (You are advised to note down the SBI Branch Name, Branch Code, Journal No. and Deposit Date)

5. After depositing the required fee at SBI, please click on the Apply Here button.
6. It is advised that you note down the Roll Number for future reference and to download application form (filled) and other important documents, after submitting the form.
7. After filling the online application is required to take printout of the online application form (2 copies), attendance slip and admission card on separate A-4 size papers and paste his/her recent passport sized photograph, put his/her signature at the required space, attach attested copy of SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Ph/VH certificate and send the same with UGC marked copy of bank challan to the coordinator of the UGC test centre from where the candidate has opted to appear for the test. In case the printout of online application form (2 copies) along with the required documents does not reach the test centre on or before November 1, 2010, the candidature of the applicant shall be rejected even if he/she has submitted to UGC.
